I had the wonderful opportunity to interview Abraham Perez, the undefeated force in the flyweight division. From his early triumphs to his recent title wins, it was an honor to meet this man. He has a very inspiring story, unwavering faith, and many future aspirations in the boxing world. Abraham Perez is the "hammer" filled with grit and determination.
A Stellar Career
Abraham Perez turned professional in 2021 and quickly established himself as a dominant force in the flyweight division. With an unblemished record of 13 wins, Perez's career is marked by significant achievements, including winning the 2019 U.S. Olympic trials and the National Golden Gloves. His talent and hard work have earned him the NABF title, the IBA World title, and the WBC youth silver flyweight title, solidifying his status as a top contender in the boxing world.
Triumph Over Adversity
Abraham Perez's journey has been marked by incredible resilience. During training one day, he suffered a near-fatal drowning accident that left him in a coma for several days. Despite the severity of the incident, Perez made a full recovery and returned to the ring, continuing to dominate his opponents. This experience has not only demonstrated his physical toughness but also strengthened his mental fortitude. Perez credits his recovery and ongoing success to his unwavering faith and the support of his family and friends. I asked him about his training now and he said that he makes sure someone is with him during training especially during his breathing techniques and that he allows himself adequate time for recovery.

Growing up in a Christian household, Abraham Perez has always relied on prayer for strength and guidance. His faith deepened after his near-fatal accident, reinforcing his mental strength and resolve. Perez shared one of his favorite Bible verses, Proverbs 3:5-6, which encourages trusting in the Lord with all your heart. Looking ahead, Perez has his sights set on a potential title fight, mentioning Ricardo Sandoval and Anthony Olasquaga as key contenders.
